The indicators of CAINTRA's Economic Expectations Survey showed a recovery during June, where several of the most relevant items registered significant progress compared to the previous month.

In particular, the "new orders" and "physical production volume" indicators registered significant increases, approaching the expansion threshold with 47.88 and 49.21 points, respectively.

Likewise, the "number of workers" returned to the expansion zone with 50.46 points, after more than a year outside of it. Similarly, "inventories" and "utilized capacity" recorded the most significant advances of the month, placing themselves in the expansion phase with 52.96 and 50.73 points, respectively.

On the foreign trade side, exports registered an increase of 2.9 points compared to the previous month and reached the expansion zone. Meanwhile, imports also increased but remain slightly below the expansion threshold.

Regarding price indicators, the “raw material prices” index showed a moderation during June, although it continues at high levels above 60 points. Similarly, the “output prices” indicator remained within the expansion zone.

Regarding business investment, 30% of respondents reported having made investments in machinery, equipment, or construction during June, representing an increase of 8 percentage points compared to previous months and marking the highest figure of the year.

Finally, companies continue to cite “weak economic activity” as the main obstacle to their performance, accounting for more than half of the mentions. These are followed by the “political landscape” and “lower external demand,” with 41% and 35% of mentions, respectively. It is noteworthy that these three categories show an increase compared to the previous month.

Los indicadores de expectativas buscan conocer de forma cualitativa la situación coyuntural de la industria manufacturera de Nuevo León, mediante la perspectiva de los directivos de las empresas en diversas variables relacionadas con su operación. Para ello, a los empresarios se les cuestiona mes con mes cómo se comportó una lista de variables con relación al período anterior, teniendo la posibilidad de responder: mucho menor, menor, igual, mayor, mucho mayor. Con esto, se elabora un índice cuya importancia radica en que, si el número obtenido se encuentra por arriba de 50 puntos, la variable se encuentra en expansión; pero si está por debajo de esta magnitud, significa una contracción.
