Joint, coordinated and immediate action between authorities, industry and freight forwarders
September 5, 2022
- Evaluation of first plans with state authorities (Ministry of Government, Public Safety and Mobility), as well as the National Guard should reduce the concerns of the state's economic sector in their day-to-day transportation operation.
- Encourage reporting, evaluation of municipal operations, review of the regulatory framework for mobility in Nuevo Leon and periodic reviews between industry, carriers and authorities as the first steps. With concern, the industry and transportation sectors in Nuevo Leon observe the increase in complexity and costs in the movement of goods due to insecurity on local and federal highways, complex and irregular procedures by authorities and corruption or extortion.
In the most recent industrial survey, 27% of those surveyed reported having suffered extortion by the authorities; of this percentage, 9 out of 10 industrialists (88%) said that the extortion was carried out by the municipal transit authorities.
With this, CAINTRA and CANACAR celebrate the beginning of a frank and direct dialogue with the heads of the Secretariat of Government, Javier Navarro; of Security, Gerardo Palacios; of Mobility, Hernan Villarreal; as well as the Subdelegate of the National Intelligence Center, David Chavez; and the Commander of the 4th Brigade and State Coordinator of the National Guard in the state, Alberto Rodriguez.
The initial actions under evaluation include the promotion and timely attention of complaints through immediate communication channels; dialogue with municipal authorities on the performance and transparency of cargo transportation checkpoints; as well as the evaluation of the new General Road Safety and Mobility Law for its implementation in the state with the least administrative friction, state-of-the-art technology and facilitation of local economic dynamics.
CANACAR and CAINTRA urge authorities to facilitate the movement of goods on all roads and highways in Mexico. Guaranteeing the free and safe transit of products is the best way to support the family economy due to the effects of inflation and price increases.
