Results Message +PyMEx SME Expo Monterrey 2026 Eduardo Coronado Quintanilla September 9, 2026
Good afternoon, everyone.
I want to thank Federico Toussaint for sharing this excellent success story with us.
Stories like the one we just heard remind us that large corporations used to be SMBs. Behind every successful organization was a group of people who dared to grow, innovate, and overcome challenges...
Thank you very much, Federico.
Likewise, I thank the participating SMEs, who are the raison d'être of this effort and who represent a fundamental part of the competitiveness of Nuevo León and Mexico. I also want to recognize the presence of the business leaders, directors, champions, sponsors, and representatives of the companies who accompany us today in this important meeting.
That is precisely what the +PyMEx initiative is about. Before sharing the results of this initiative, it is important to reflect on the context in which companies in Nuevo León and Mexico have operated over the past year. At the international level, we have faced increasingly complex environments. The reconfiguration of global trade, the emergence of new tariff schemes, international competition under unequal conditions, and market volatility have created significant challenges for industry.
Added to this are other challenges we face on a daily basis: higher logistics costs, constant changes in supply chains, new regulations and bureaucratic procedures, among others; all of which force us to adapt ever more quickly to a constantly evolving global environment.
However, if there is something that characterizes Nuevo León, it is its industry's ability to turn challenges into opportunities. And in this process, SMEs have proven to be one of our greatest strategic allies.
Their flexibility, responsiveness, innovation, and close alignment with their customers’ needs have enabled them to strengthen their role within supply chains and become key partners in ensuring the competitiveness of large companies. Most importantly, behind every growing SME are jobs, investment, and opportunities for Mexican families.
That is why, even in the midst of a complex environment, today we can proudly state that companies in Nuevo León have maintained their firm commitment to the development of domestic suppliers.
Today we are pleased to announce that, despite international uncertainty, companies in Nuevo León reaffirm our commitment to SMEs. And we are pleased to announce that in the period from January to July 2026, we have increased purchases from SMEs by more than 835 million dollars, which is equivalent to 14.5 billion pesos.
In addition, an increasing number of Mexican SMEs are becoming part of the structure of large companies, as these 26 companies reported that, in 2026, the proportion of purchases from SMEs relative to total purchases rose from 36.9% to 44.8%.
But there is one figure that better reflects the cumulative impact of this effort than any other. Since the creation of +PyMEx in 2022, the program has generated more than 2,590 million dollars in additional purchases from SMEs, equivalent to 45,000 million pesos.
These results reflect the coordinated effort of 26 companies committed to strengthening domestic supply chains and building more resilient, competitive, and sustainable value chains.
These additional purchases are business opportunities that remain in Mexico, national content that is incorporated into our products, and increasingly strong and resilient supply chains.
However, the most valuable thing about this program is not just the indicators, but the stories behind the numbers.
During this year we have seen success stories of SMEs that increased their installed capacity, made new investments, professionalized their processes, and today generate more employment for Mexican families.
We have also witnessed a very positive trend: companies that initially began working with a single lead company and that, thanks to the strengthening of their capabilities, are now part of the supply chain for several companies participating in the initiative.
That is precisely the objective of +PYMEX.
May the opportunities created by one company become opportunities for many more. May a business relationship lead to growth.
And may the growth of one company spur the growth of many more. Because when an SME grows, it brings prosperity to its community.
When an SME matures, it empowers Nuevo León. And when an SME transforms, it changes Mexico. That is why we say that +PyMEx is not just a purchasing program.
It is a competitiveness strategy.
It is a business development strategy.
And it is also a social development strategy.
But as we moved forward with this initiative, we realized something very important.
Increasing purchases was only part of the solution.
For a company to take advantage of new business opportunities, it also needs to develop capabilities, strengthen processes, professionalize its operations, and prepare to compete in increasingly demanding markets.
That's how "Sponsor an SME" was born.
An initiative through which leading companies support suppliers with high growth potential by providing training, mentoring, and specialized education.
Thanks to the commitment of our champions, sponsors, the Monterrey Competitiveness Center, and EGADE Business School, more than 140 small and medium-sized enterprises have been mentored since the program’s inception.
And this year, 34 new SME entrepreneurs will join the program, where they will begin a training process focused on leadership, strategy, productivity, sustainability, and business development.
In this way, we complement our procurement efforts with a comprehensive approach that seeks to build stronger, more competitive companies that are better prepared for the future.
These results show us that, even in times of uncertainty, businesses in Nuevo León continue to prioritize what matters most: our people, our companies, and our ability to grow together.
We know that when we work in a coordinated manner, we are able to build stronger, more competitive value chains with greater participation by domestic suppliers.
For this reason, I would like to invite more companies to join this initiative and be part of this collective effort.
Additionally, I would like to make a very special recognition to our champions and sponsors, who have been a key part of the success of +PYMEX. The results we share today are a reflection of the collective effort of many people, and among them you stand out, having assumed this commitment with professionalism, vision, and conviction.
For this reason, we would like to express our most sincere gratitude to you. On your tables, you will find a token of our appreciation for your valuable contribution to strengthening the domestic supply chain and supporting the development of Mexican small and medium-sized enterprises.
At CAINTRA, we will continue to promote initiatives that strengthen domestic content, develop competitive suppliers, and create opportunities for Mexican companies.
Because when large companies and small and medium-sized businesses work together, we all benefit.
Thank you very much.
