CAINTRA's new Technical Education Committee meets for the first time.
June 13, 2023
CAINTRA's Technical Education Commission has held its first session, headed by Nancy Sanchez, CAINTRA's Vice President and General Director for LEGO, and with close to 40 company representatives in charge of HR and experts in the field of human resources, talent, training and education, as well as SME owners.
As part of the first activities, the results of the Technical Personnel Shortage Survey were presented, in which almost 500 industrial companies participated, highlighting the following data:
- 85% of companies reported having difficulties filling technical positions in their organizations. - Companies are taking on average 57 calendar days to find the right technical personnel; where micro-sized companies take at least 68 days. - In industrial companies, technician turnover has increased to levels of 27% on average. - An average of 40% of the companies find that the people hired lack the technical knowledge that new industrial technologies require.
With this information, the Commission and the CAINTRA Board have highlighted that the challenges are focused, on the one hand, on the lack of skills and knowledge demanded by the new technologies and processes that the industry requires today; and on the other hand, the need to provide technical knowledge and skills to those who do not have that level of education.
Therefore, the Commission will be working on joint actions with authorities and technical schools, such as:
- Initiate plans to encourage young people, who so desire, to pursue the technical careers required by industry. - Strengthen the capabilities of technical schools on the industrial side, through greater links with companies and the dual model. - Encourage technical training through greater opportunities and promoting the value and benefits of a technician in the state.
In CAINTRA, through our new Technical Education Commission, we will be approaching all sectors, so that this challenge of the shortage of technical personnel becomes a strength and new job opportunities of better quality for the benefit of all.
