In the current competitive environment, a differential value for companies is constituted by ESG criteria, which are adopted by organizations committed to social responsibility issues and contribute to increasing their economic profitability in a sustainable manner.

For this reason, training small and medium-sized companies by providing them with the necessary tools so that they can incorporate this important strategy into their operations is part of the agenda of actions carried out by CAINTRA's Business Sustainability Commission.

Among these actions, the ESG Workshop for SMEs, whose objective is to promote the adoption of sustainable practices in the operations of small and medium-sized companies, concluded on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 12 with the graduation of its Fourth Generation.

With the help of expert leaders from large organizations that have already successfully worked on sustainability strategies, the SMEs that took part in this workshop expanded their knowledge on concepts, tools, methodologies and best practices of sustainability, and with the help of a Toolkit provided to them in this workshop, they strengthened their business strategy under ESG principles, which allowed them to increase their competitiveness.

The participants attended eight hours of training, which promoted the exchange of ideas and feedback on the actions implemented by large industries, with the purpose of facilitating the first steps of small and medium-sized companies towards the adoption of more sustainable practices.

In this fourth generation 205 SMEs were registered and 189 of them participated in the workshop, of which 83 were microenterprises, 54 were small, 37 were medium-sized and 31 were large. On average, 72 companies completed all three sessions of the program, while 26 more will be able to join the group by completing an additional session, bringing the total to 98 companies graduated. With these results, CAINTRA now has 388 companies trained and more than 800 participants that, from 2023 to date, have strengthened their knowledge and capabilities to move towards a more responsible industry.

Juan Pablo García Garza, General Director of CAINTRA, congratulated the participants and encouraged them to continue applying ESG criteria in their actions.

"I invite you to keep going forward, keep promoting all these actions for the benefit of our community, you have already taken a step forward and feel proud of it; we at CAINTRA are proud of so many companies. If every year we manage to get 100 or 200 companies to join this, in a few years we will achieve that all of our members have ESG actions".

At CAINTRA we are convinced that sustainability is a strategy that strengthens competitiveness and promotes responsible economic development for a more prosperous Mexico.
